01Our approach

This policy explains how Bison for macOS handles information, and separately describes this website and information you choose to send for support. “We” and “us” mean Bison’s developer, identified in the contact section.

Bison does not send your database contents, queries, credentials, or app activity to its developer. It has no Bison account, advertising system, tracking SDK, or developer-operated cloud workspace. We do not sell your personal information or use your database content to train AI models.

A local app can still make connections you request. Bison communicates with your chosen database and SSH servers. If you enable agent access, it also responds to the clients you connect. Those data flows are explained below.

02What stays on your Mac

Bison stores the information needed to run your workspace on your Mac:

  • Workspace information: connection profiles, database and collection names, query history, recent views, preferences, and agent settings.
  • Saved work: saved queries, dashboard definitions, and files you export. Query text, history, and exports can contain personal or confidential information from your databases.
  • Credentials: saved database passwords, SSH passwords and key passphrases, and agent access tokens are kept in the macOS Keychain. Key and certificate files you select remain in their chosen locations.
  • Agent activity: a local audit log records requests, permission decisions, and execution details. It can include redacted request arguments and database names.

Bison does not upload or synchronize this workspace through a Bison service. Files placed in a synced folder, committed to a repository, exported, or included in your backups follow the settings of the tools you use for those purposes. Local storage is not a promise that every saved file is encrypted; protect access to your Mac and backups.

03Your database connections

Bison sends authentication information and database operations to the MongoDB servers you configure, either directly or through an SSH tunnel you enable. Responses return to your Mac. This traffic does not pass through a Bison-operated server.

Your database host, SSH provider, and network services process connection information under their own arrangements. Their logging and retention settings may include queries, IP addresses, and connection activity. You control which servers you use and which database credentials and permissions Bison receives.

04Optional AI agent access

AI agent access through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) is optional and off by default. When enabled, Bison’s MCP server listens on your Mac’s loopback interface. Access depends on the clients you configure and the permissions you set for each connection.

A local MCP connection does not mean the AI client is local-only. A connected client may send tool responses, database results, schema information, or conversation context to an external model provider. That client and provider have their own privacy policies, retention rules, and model-training settings.

Use connection access levels, database allowlists, and field redaction to limit what an agent can receive. Review write requests before approving them. You can disable agent access in Settings, change connection permissions, or regenerate the access token. These actions stop future access; they do not recall information a client has already received.

05Diagnostics & the App Store

Bison has no built-in analytics service or independent crash-report uploader. macOS can share crash reports and related diagnostics with Apple and app developers when you enable that sharing. We may receive those reports from Apple to investigate faults.

You can change this in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Apple explains the information involved and how to opt out in its Mac analytics documentation.

For Mac App Store purchases, Apple handles payment, your Apple Account, downloads, and store services under Apple’s privacy policy. Bison does not receive your payment-card details. Store purchase records and any reports Apple makes available to developers are separate from your database workspace.

06Keeping & removing data

Saved connections, queries, dashboards, and preferences remain on your Mac until you change or remove them. The current app keeps up to 500 unpinned query-history entries per collection; pinned entries remain until removed. Agent audit records are stored locally and may remain until the app data containing them is removed.

  • Delete saved connections in Bison to remove their profiles and associated saved credentials.
  • Remove query-history entries and saved queries in the app. Pinned history may need to be removed separately.
  • Delete dashboard files, exports, and copies you shared from the locations where you saved them.
  • For a complete local cleanup, remove Bison’s app data and any remaining Bison Keychain entries as well as the app. Uninstalling the application alone may leave these behind.

Removing local information does not delete records from your MongoDB servers, copies held by AI clients, synced folders, or backups. We do not hold a developer-side copy of your workspace to retrieve, restore, or delete.

07This website

The website’s own code does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party font services. It stores your light/dark appearance choice in your browser’s local storage. You can remove that preference by clearing this website’s site data.

This website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, Inc. When you open a page, Cloudflare receives connection information from your browser, such as your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser’s user agent, and uses it to deliver the site and protect it against abuse, under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We do not keep access logs of our own; Cloudflare shows us only aggregated traffic statistics, such as the number of requests per page or country, which do not identify you.

Cloudflare adds two things to the pages it serves: a small script that hides the contact email address from spam harvesters until the page is shown in a browser, and Network Error Logging, which may ask your browser to report to Cloudflare when the site fails to load, such as after a connection error. Neither tracks you across websites or is used for advertising. This website does not have access to the Bison workspace on your Mac.

08When you contact us

If you contact us, we receive the contact details, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, troubleshoot the issue, and meet any applicable legal obligations, relying on our legitimate interest in answering you and supporting Bison, or on taking the steps you ask for. Do not send passwords, access tokens, private keys, or production database exports; redact screenshots and logs first.

Our email is handled by Google Workspace (Google LLC), which stores and processes our mailbox under Google’s data processing terms. We keep a conversation for as long as needed to resolve it and any follow-up, and longer only where the law requires it or to establish or defend a legal claim; then we delete it. Support correspondence is separate from the app’s local workspace.

Cloudflare and Google may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States, under data protection terms that include safeguards for international transfers, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

09Your choices & rights

You can use Bison without enabling AI access or sharing optional macOS diagnostics. You control your local files, connection permissions, and the information you send to other services.

If we hold personal information from support or other direct correspondence, you can contact us about access, correction, or deletion. Depending on the law that applies, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or complain to a data-protection authority, such as Serbia’s Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection or the authority where you live or work. We cannot access or act on records held only on your Mac or by a provider you chose.

Bison is a database tool for general and professional use, not a service directed at children. The app does not request an age, birth date, or user profile.

10Changes to this policy

We will update this page when Bison’s information-handling practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be described with the relevant release or through another appropriate notice. A policy update does not silently enable analytics or optional agent access.
